Realtor.com
They say your home is your castle. But one home seller this summer proved you can also be the warden of your own jailhouse.
The listing for an affordable home in Celina, OH, made waves on social media in June, offering viewers a peek at two unexpected and eye-popping jail cells next to the kitchen.
That didn’t scare away one buyer, who didn’t take long to lock in an offer. Listed for $275,000, the four-bedroom home was sold within eight weeks for $315,000—an increase of $40,000.
The seller reportedly acquired the cells from a nearby jail. They are said to have held gangster John Dillinger during the Great Depression.
The 6,467-square-foot home racked up tens of thousands of clicks, making it the most popular home on Realtor.com® in 2022.
From the former Disney CEO’s massive, oceanfront manse in Malibu, CA, to a fully furnished estate on Minnesota’s Bald Eagle Lake, 2022’s listings were full of jaw-dropping surprises.
