You know about “Toy Story.” Now, here’s a real estate story.
Former Pixar President Ed Catmull has set his sights on Marin County with a home purchase in Mill Valley, CA. The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath residence was purchased for $7 million in October, real estate records show.
Last sold in 2008 for $2.35 million, the home received an extensive renovation in 2011.
The two-story, 3,617-square-foot, farmhouse-style residence sits on just over a quarter-acre. The landscaping features patios and a grassy lawn.
The contemporary dwelling includes a wood-siding exterior, three fireplaces, and glass doors that lead to a covered patio.
Architectural add-ons include plank flooring, a casual dining nook, walls of windows, and flourishes such as such as crown molding and decorative wall paper.

Located just 14 miles north of San Francisco, the charming area is surrounded by national parks and beaches. The town offers a blend of upscale cafes, shopping, and dining.
Fellow celebs who have called the community home include the actor Peter Coyote, the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia, and director George Lucas.
Catmull’s made plenty of real estate moves. In 2014, he placed his tropical Hawaiian retreat on the market for $20.1 million.
His move to Marin County happened after he sold his gorgeous San Francisco mansion in Pacific Heights last year for $12.3 million. As we reported at the time, he had purchased the place in 2015 for $9.95 million. The updated estate from 1915 measured 6,700 square feet, and featured a home theater, gym, elevator, wet bar, wine cellar, and outdoor area with a fountain.
But after just three years in the modernized San Francisco manse, the 74-year-old exec made a decent profit on the transaction before heading over the Golden Gate Bridge to his new digs.
The retired computer scientist and former president of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios is a four-time Academy Award winner. The Pixar co-founder was recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his pioneering contributions in computer graphics.
