Winter Wonders: 5 Luxe Ski Chalets Priced Below a Million Bucks

Realtor.com

If you love gliding on the slopes but hate spending all of your savings on ski resort accommodations, have we got some deals for you!

We found five luxe ski chalets that are move-in ready, every one of them asking for less than $1 million.  It took some digging: Many of the nation’s most popular ski towns have become accessible to only the wealthy. A recent Realtor.com® report reveals that the average home price around Jackson Hole, WY, or Vail, CO, is north of $3 million.

Even the average home in a classic East Coast ski town like Stratton, VT, is listed at more than $1 million.

But after doing a little (snow) shoveling, we were able to find five fabulous homes in different parts of the country, each one close to ski resorts and popular peaks.

And while they might be priced between $750,000 and $1,000,000, just think of the rental income possibilities!

11100 Innsbruck Ave, Truckee, CA

Price: $990,000
Year-round vacation home: The great thing about this chalet in the Reno-Tahoe area is that it’s not only close to downhill and cross-country ski areas, but in the spring, summer, and fall, you can also enjoy golf, tennis, hiking, swimming, and all the amenities of the community’s Northwoods Club.

The 1,560-square-foot chalet has four bedrooms, four baths, and outdoor decks, the better to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

The open floor plan and numerous windows allow natural light and warmth to saturate the interior, and lots of quality wood paneling keep it all cozy.

This property has already proven itself as a successful vacation rental. Paradise awaits!

Price: $750,000
Washington wonderland: This three-bedroom, one-bath gem that sleeps eight has myriad amenities, but all we can think about is that eight-person hot tub on the back deck.

Located in the charming town of Historic Grotto, just 15 minutes away from the Stevens Pass Ski Area, this chalet is charming on the outside and updated on the inside. The kitchen is newly renovated, and there’s both a fireplace and a new, wood-burning stove to keep you warm at night.
