With its tennis court, custom Art Deco theater, and yoga pavilion, Jim Carrey’s luxurious estate is seriously swanky.
After almost three decades, the 61-year-old star is letting go of the 12,704-square-foot home he bought in 1994 for about $3.8 million.
The posh pad was built in 1951 in Brentwood, an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood. Its $28,900,000 list price makes it the community’s fifth-most-expensive residence for sale.
“This home provides a setting for those wishing to enjoy sophisticated entertaining or … plenty of room for children to play and explore in a magical setting,” says listing agent Janelle Friedman, of Sotheby’s International Realty–Santa Monica-Venice Brokerage.
A 280-foot, hedged frontage offers plenty of privacy. Five bedrooms, six full baths, and three half baths fill the mostly one-story ranch home, where only the movie theater and gym are on separate levels.
The sprawling home reportedly also serves as a showcase for some of the art Carrey has created over the years.
Magnificent movie theater
The home’s custom movie theater is a real standout.
It’s “as striking as the famous movie palaces of Hollywood, featuring mohair-covered sofas, burl-wood columns and snack area, and a lavish marble bath,” Friedman says of the theater, which was renovated during the star’s time in the house.
Costumes from some of the comedian’s films are displayed in glass cases, and the bar showcases more movie memorabilia.

Born in Canada, Carrey gained fame in the 1990s on the television sketch-comedy show, “In Living Color.”
