Dive In! $40M Mansion With Glass-Bottom Swimming Pool Is Vail's Priciest Home

The most expensive home in Vail, CO, has made a big splash on the market.

What’s attracting the most attention to this gorgeous residence? The suspended, glass-bottom pool, of course.

That, for starters, might explain the $40 million price tag.

The 75-foot pool’s design includes a translucent vertical wall and bottom, and it resembles a box with windows. Adjacent to a glass-walled floating staircase, both of these design features allow unblocked views of the surrounding mountains.

Alitza Vagenknechtova of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty is the listing agent.

Modern manse

Built in 2019, the 8,801-square-foot home is an ultracontemporary mountain retreat. It is set on a half-acre lot and has had just one owner.

Instead of a traditional rustic ski lodge with exposed logs, this space offers walls of windows, high ceilings, a free-standing elevator with a glass ceiling, multiple fireplaces, and a white marble bath. The house has five bedrooms and nine baths.

Biometric recognition on the home’s entry ensures privacy, and the radiant-floor heating is a truly sumptuous perk.

“It took them three years to build it,” Vagenknechtova says of the home. “It has amazing views of the [Vail] mountain.”

In addition to the remarkable glass pool, the property boasts a deluxe indoor spa and sauna, whirlpool, and waterfall.

A tiered rooftop deck—with a pergola and glass walls—provides easy access to the Colorado sun and can be heated for extra comfort.

A fire pit and outdoor fireplace take the chill out of cool evenings.

A four-car garage and covered parking for four cars are included, and there’s even a car rinse for DIY washes.

While it’s no secret that Vail attracts skiers, the town of 4,800 local residents is appealing to buyers, too.

“It’s a safe, affluent community, and in winter, it’s closer to the skiing,” says Vagenknechtova. “Even if it’s not ‘ski-in, ski-out,’ it’s a five-minute walk.”

Tucked into a European-style village setting, this part of the Vail Valley is a 30-minute drive to Eagle County Regional Airport.

“It’s charming and quaint—not modern—yet sophisticated,” says Vagenknechtova. “Once you’re in the village, you don’t need a car.”

She thinks the next owner could be enticed by the luxurious potential of a vacation-at-home lifestyle.

“It’s like a resort,” Vagenknechtova says. “They don’t need to leave if they don’t want to. This is the client who does not want to go into a pool or sauna, where there are 20 other people.”
